A cornucopia of comedy and much more for April Fools week

 April Fools Day is over, but there is plenty of comedy and drama happening throughout the first week of April.

Terry, Trish and Shank from Canadian cult comedy classic FUBAR bring the funny to the Place stage tonight, Tuesday, April 2. Doors open at 7 p.m.. Tickets begins at $32.21.

 Les Fox hosts pro-Amateur  night at Good Times on  Wednesday,April 3.

Queerprov 404 edition  returns to  Good Times , April 4 .

 

 The funny folks from  the Impromptu Players will deliver uncensored songs, sketches and a belly full of laughs, April 4  beginning at 7 p.m. Tickets are $14.95

And Alex Carr returns to Good Times Friday and Saturday. Tickets are $19.95 for the shows which are  at 8 p.m., Friday, April 5 and 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 6.


 Chinook Regional One Act Play Festival is Saturday April 6 at the Sterndale Bennett Theatre  6:30 p.m. The shows  begins at 7 p.m.  Tickets are $10.

There is a lot of music happening as usual.

 The big show of the week is at the Yates Centre where Canadian blues legend Colin James will be holding court, Sunday, April 7 at 7 p.m. The show is sold out.

But a lot more happens before that.

 

The Owl Acoustic lounge’s weekly open mic is Tuesday,  April 2.

The Owl is hosting a special film screening fundraiser for popular long standing skate shop Boarderline  at 6:30 p.m., April 3.

Celtic Routes return to Theoretically brewing on Thursday for the monthly Celtic jam

If you like Cuban jazz music and feel like dancing, The Owl has a really special show on April 5 as Klave Latin Band and Tricia Edward will be playing a tribute to  renown Cuban collective the Buena Vista Social Club. The show is at 8 p.m.  Admission is $25 in advance.

The Eric Braun Band has the blues for you and a whole lot more at the Owl Acoustic lounge, April 6.

New Autumns’s Aaron Phelan returns to the Slice to host the open mic on Wednesday April 3.

 

The Slice hosts a screening of Tanner James locally produced mockumentary  Wild Bill on April 4 .

 

 Wild Bill features  Taber musician Bill lawson, C.R Avery and numerous other  western Canadian musicians, lus local muscians   Colw Howg (Yarboro), Brent Clark and music by Starpainter.

 The 20-minute long Albertan comedy is a mix of  Hard Core Logo and  Searching for  Sugarman. The movie starts at 7 p.m. with a question and answer session to follow with Tanner James and Bill lawson

 The Slice hosts a big rap show, Friday April 5  as  Underdog Promotions bring  back Red Deer rapper Blaze ON3 and Two Young to the stage. Tickets are $35 in advance, $30 at the door.

 

The Slice turns things up a notch on Saturday with a massive metal show featuring Calgary thrash metal band  Exit Wound, Calgary metal band Karnage through Crossings and local thrash metal band Drearius performing. Admission is $15. The bands begin at 9 p.m.

 

The Place went ’80s over the Easter weekend. This weekend, they go 90s as local band Ninety X Over return  for ’90s night, Saturday, April 6. Bring a  donation for  the Lethbridge Food bank . the ’90s  return at 7 p.m.

 James Oldenburg and Paul Holden bring some jazz music to Streatside Eatery for jazz Saturdays on Saturday from 5:30-8:30 p.m.

 

 Honkers Pub features Wanda Krein- MacKay’s new band Wild Flower Whiskey  hosting their open mic on Friday,April 5,. They include Wanda Krein-Mackay, Jack Horne Jr, Kyle Horne, Skye Hurd and Reg Osmond and created the band "Wildflower Whiskey.”

 Daylan Delaney returns to host the Honkers Pub open mic on Saturday from 5-9 .m.

 Gabe Thaine hosts an open mic at Salsa by Karoll’s on  Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m.

 The Slice also hosts a blues jam on Tuesday, April 9.
